Management Alerts

Management Alerts settings provide the ability to limit the display of home page management alerts for a user. Projector Administrators can use these settings to constrain the number of items that get alerted to the user on their home page. Setting constraints can help users prioritize items that have only been sent to them, i.e. Time Off request approvals.

The Management Alert settings can be found on the User Type editor dialog.

Note that a user’s User Type can be configured on the User editor dialog under the User Type tab.

Choose to limit the display of home page management alerts for the following alert types:

  • Approve time off requests

  • Approve expenses (for projects with resource-based approval)

  • Fulfill scheduling requests

The display options for the alert types are:

  • Show alerts for all items that I have permission to approve

  • Show alerts for all items in my cost center as well as for items sent directly to me

  • Only show alerts for items that have been sent directly to me

Definition for each management alert types' display option:

Show alerts for all items that I have permission to approve

Show alerts for all items in my cost center as well as for items sent directly to me by resources/users in other cost centers

Only show alerts for items that have been sent directly to me

Show alerts for all items that I have permission to approve

Show alerts for all items in my cost center as well as for items sent directly to me by resources/users in other cost centers

Only show alerts for items that have been sent directly to me

Approve time off requests

Show all time off requests that the user has permission to approve

Show all time off requests in the user’s cost center as well as for time off requests sent directly to the user by resources/users in other cost centers

Only show time off requests that have been sent directly to the user

Fulfill scheduling requests

Show all scheduling requests that the user has permission to:

  • Request Resources

  • Request Hours

  • Book Resources

  • Book Hours

  • Schedule Hours

  • Edit Role

Show all scheduling requests in the user’s cost center as well as for scheduling requests sent directly to the user by resources/users in other cost centers

Note: For unnamed roles, determining whether the role is ‘in the user's cost center'), is based upon the role’s effective resource cost center

Only show scheduling requests that have been sent (notified) directly to the user

After the settings are set, the user’s home page will display the appropriate number counts for the above alert types based on the display setting that was selected.

Filters

Navigating through any of those management alert links will bring the user to a system search page with the following filter already added:

  • Limit to Requests Awaiting My Approval, Respecting Alert Level Setting → Approve time off requests

  • Limit to Requests Awaiting My Approval, Respecting Alert Level Setting → Approve expenses (for projects with resource-based approval)

  • Roles for which I Can (Respecting Alert Level Setting) → Fulfill scheduling requests

What’s the difference between the filters?

The difference between the filter criteria for “Limit to Request Awaiting My Approval, Respecting Alert Level Setting” and “Limit to Request Awaiting My Approval” is that the former aligns with the Management Alert settings for your user or user type and the later shows all requests that you have permission to approve. Same applies for the “Roles for which I Can (Respecting Alert Level Setting)” filter and the “Roles for which I Can” filter.
