How do I delete this role

When trying to delete a role, you may see that the option is grayed out. You can try the following to open the role up for deletion.

  1. Ensure that the project editor is open in PM or Scheduler mode and not in View or Update mode
  2. Check the Task Planning tab and ensure that the Roles column does not have the role assigned to any tasks
  3. Check the Resource Scheduling tab and ensure there are no requested or booked hours. If there are, delete them. Remember that you have to open the project in PM mode to clear requested hours and Scheduler mode to remove booked hours. You may need to check your stage based settings to make sure that you have permission to edit these. In particular if the project is closed then this could be the case.
  4. There are time cards saved or submitted against the role. Use the Time Browser to find the time cards and set them back to draft. Then log into time entry and delete the hours.

If after checking these, deletion is still grayed out, then there is audit trail history associated with the role. For example, time was transferred off the role to another role. In this case the role cannot be deleted. You can add a role end date to prevent future use.
