Entering Time Through Slack

The Slack slash command /Projector allows you to add draft time cards to any project, role, or task that would otherwise be available to you through Time Entry.

Once you are connected, you’ll have a few slash commands available to you:

/Projector time

To add time for today, yesterday, or any specific date

The time command expects you to enter the amount of time you worked on a particular task and will optionally accept a date or description value, but not both at the same time.

Once you’ve submitted the slash command, Slack will display a list of projects along with the tasks or roles assigned to you. Select a task or role for the time to be added to.

Selecting a task or role from the provided list will send the time from your request to Projector.

If you have additional detail to add to the time card, use the “See My Timesheet” button to open your Projector timesheet in a web browser.

/Projector help

An inline list of commands and explanatory text will appear within your Slack channel

/Projector info

Will show the technical details about your connection to Slack and Projector. This information is helpful for Projector Support if you run into issues with the application.

/Projector disconnect

This will disconnect your personal Slack<>Projector connection. No worries, you won’t be disconnecting anyone but yourself, and you can easily reconnect if necessary. Once you enter the command a secondary action is necessary to initiate the disconnect action.

… and just to be sure, that’s followed by a confirmation dialog if you click “Disconnect from Projector”.

/Projector connect

This won’t do much if you’re already connected, but if you’ve used the disconnect command, this connect command will allow you to reconnect to the same Projector account or perhaps to a different one as appropriate.

The full workflow for connecting is outlined in How To Authenticate Individual Resources for Slack Time Entry into Projector
