Management Portal requires a minimum version of Microsoft .NET 4.5 in order to run. In general, as long as you have been applying recommended updates from Microsoft, Management Portal should just work. If it is not working, you may just want to run Windows Update and apply any outstanding items.

.NET Hotfixes

In addition to a minimum version of .NET 4.5, we also require a minimum version of TLS 1.1+. Versions of .NET 4.6.1 or earlier require a Microsoft security update or hotfix in order to support TLS 1.1+. Because of this, we recommend installing .NET 4.6.2+ if possible. If all of this is technobabble, contact support.

The Easy Fix

Install Microsoft .NET 4.6.2 or greater.

  1. Visit https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/framework
  2. Download and run an installer for .NET 4.6.2
  3. Please restart your system even if you are not prompted to do so.
  4. Try and run Management Portal again.

The Not So Easy Fix

If you are locked into an older version of .NET, you can still get Management Portal working. You can find the version of .NET installed by going to Add/Remove programs control panel. Look for "Microsoft .NET Framework XXX".
