Core objects & hierarchy (ECLIP)

ECLIP (informal shorthand, sometimes heard as “ECLIP”): A convenient way to describe the core hierarchy you’ll use every day: Engagement → Contract Line Item (CLI) → Project. Engagement: Represents the contract with your client. You add CLIs under the engagement to model the terms; projects live under those CLIs to deliver the work. Projector PSA

Contract Line Item (CLI): The piece of the contract that carries terms (e.g., T&M, NTE, Fixed Price), service periods, and milestones. Each project is associated to exactly one CLI. Projector PSA+1

Project: Where delivery happens (team, tasks, budgets, time/expenses). Each project displays the engagement/CLI it belongs to. Projector PSA

Service Periods (on a CLI): Date-bounded windows that determine scheduled revenue and/or contracted hours (used with revenue schedules and modeled overages). Projector PSA

Milestone (billing): A billing construct only (not revenue by itself). When billed, it typically creates Deferred Revenue until you recognize revenue or bill T&M work.Projector PSA
