Who can view RDC
Because RDC information allows people to infer the salary or reimbursement rates of Projector resources, the permissions around it are tightly controlled. This page details who can view RDC information and what you can do to audit them.
Accessible
Let's start by enumerating the places that RDC data is available in Projector.
- RDC Card Editor - your high level RDC card determines RDC rates based on a resource's dept/title combination.
- Resource profile - subcontractors are likely to have a fixed RDC value assigned to their resource profile
- Role Editor - RDC can be overridden on a per role basis. Rates are available there.
- Manage Cost Cards - if you use subcontractor invoices, then RDC card approvers can view reimbursement rates
- Reporting - reports like the ginsu, engagement, project portfolio, rdc card, and more offer data fields around RDC
- /wiki/spaces/docs/pages/12915465 - the analytics platform often contains RDC data in order to build executive level dashboards
- Web Services - web services can be used to export data from Projector, including RDC rates
Permissions
The following are permissions that can grant a user access to RDC data.
Permission Type | Permission Name | Description |
---|---|---|
Global permission | Resource Direct Cost (RDC) Data | users can review RDC data anywhere in Projector they have access to. Reports, dashboards, etc. |
Global permission | Rate Card, RDC Rate Card and Dept/Title Administration | users gain access to the RDC Card Editor where they can see the rate for each dept/title combination. |
Global permission | View Project Margin | report runners and dashboard viewers can view margin. As margin calculations incorporate RDC in the equation, it is possible to infer RDC values based on the margin. |
Stage permission | Project Managers can Edit RDC | PMs can view RDC on the Role Rates Tab. |
Cost center permission | Maintain Project RDC | users with this permission can view/edit RDC on roles from this cost center |
Global permission | Users and Permissions | can elevate their own or anyone else's permissions to view RDC data. |
RDC Card Approvers | If you use subcontractor invoices, then your cost card approvers will be able to see hours worked and reimbursement amount. | |
Advanced Analytics | Like the Users and Permissions global permission, the advanced analytics is only mentioned here for the sake of completeness. Often the analytics module contains data such as profitability, margin, targets, and RDC rates. Make sure your AAM settings are effectively locking down access to RDC data. | |
The cost center permission Maintain Resources | does not give you access to RDC data. Although you can edit everything else about a resource, you cannot view or edit RDC data. | |
Distributed Reports | Reports run by a user with RDC permissions that are distributed to other users can contain RDC data. Reports that are shared to other users may contain RDC fields, but the output will have RDC removed. |
Reports
Reports can be distributed from users with access to RDC to users who do not have access to RDC. Ensure that your users with RDC access understand the implications of this and guard that data wisely.
