My report shows Blank for a row field

Sometimes when you open a Projector report you will notice that <blank> is shown for some row fields instead of what you were expecting. Why does this happen? The simple answer is that Projector shows <blank> when it cannot put a piece of data into a category. For example, booked hours do not have a Task Type. Task Types are assigned when a resource submits their time card. If you group timecards together based on Task Type, then all your booked hours will fall into the <blank> category.

This situation can arise for other row fields too. In each case, you should ask yourself why Projector cannot put the data into that category. This page will be maintained to add further use cases added as they are encountered by customers.

Row FieldReason for Blanks

You are looking at system revenue. Projector cannot associate the revenue with a project, so it lands on <Blank> instead. This occurs if:

  • You use a revenue schedule and there are now hours in a time period
  • Your project is not complete, but has no booked hours. Revenue lands on the End Date
ProjectYou are looking at hours. The hours are associated with time off taken, time off requested, or company holidays.
Resource Display NameYou are looking at projected data associated with an unnamed resource. Or, you are looking at projected Salesforce data.
