Why Does the Use Actuals Through Date Default to the End of the Week

When using the project editor, you may have noticed that the Use Actuals Through Date jumps to a different date. Why can't you select the date you want? What is the significance of the date Projector jumps to?

The date jumping you witness is unique to the project editor. Projector is jumping to the last day of your current week. If your installation's first day of the week is Sunday, then Projector jumps the calendar to Saturday.

The reason behind the jumping has to do with scheduling. In Projector, scheduling can be done on a weekly basis. Recall that the Use Actuals Through Date splits actual and scheduled hours. If we allowed you to pick a date midweek, then Projector would need to display both actual and projected hours within the same week. To keep the UI manageable, we have chosen to force the dates to encompass whole weeks.

Reports however do not have a restriction based on the week and if you need information down to the day level, reports can provide it.
