Time off reasons are used to report and schedule paid time off. Long term unpaid time off should be reported as a period of resource inactivity (e.g., in the case of a leave of absence). Otherwise utilization reporting may be misstated.

Time off reasons are set in Job Accounting | Time Off Reasons.

Most organizations need to customize the default list of time off reasons in Projector.

Projector offers functionality that allows you to track time off balances by time off reason by employee.
